Disable Comments For Future Posts In WordPress

WordPress, being as CMS, let’s you create blog post in your site, along with the ability for the user comments. But, what if you are building the site for information purposes only, in which no comments at all is required. Well, on that case too, WordPress has covered up. You can disable comments for future posts, ie, newly created posts in WordPress.

Disable Comments In Individual Posts Or Via Bulk Edit

In our previous tutorial, we already described about why we may not want the comments to be enabled for our posts and pages created.

Also, we have already described about how to disable the comments in individual posts or pages in our previous tutorial. Also, we have discussed about how to bulk edit the comments too for the posts. But, if you have not followed that tutorial then, you can follow this link for same.

Now, here we will be describing about how to disable the comments on the future posts for your site. Hence, let’s move ahead and learn about how to disable comments for future posts in WordPress.

Disable Comments For Future Posts In WordPress

For that, first of all you need to visit Settings->Discussion section via your WordPress dashboard. Now after that, you will see the same as below screenshot for your site too.

There, in the above screenshot, you can see that we have marked the points via boxes. So, in order for each of the future posts created in your site, if you want to disable the comments, you just need to uncheck the checkbox option of: Allow people to post comments on new articles under the Default article settings section.

Now, after each of the future posts created in your site, you will not have the comments feature for those blog posts. However, for the older posts, you need to either bulk edit them or edit individually and disable the comments for those. You can see about how to do it here.
